September is a good month for horrors, with two blockbuster hits set to scare you in your seats. If you're not into the fear factor there's pleanty more to choose from...

God's Own Country

Release date: 1st September 

Bored, lonely and frustrated, Johnny Saxby (Josh O’Connor) is used to binge-drinking and casual sex. But when young Romanian worker moves onto the family farm, Johnny’s familiar way of life is changed forever. Working alongside each other every day the two soon develop an intense relationship that alters Johnny’s previously miserable outlook on life.

Based on the hauntingly brilliant Stephen King novel It, this film is sure to leave you spooked. Tormented by children frequently disappearing in their small town, a group of kids are left to deal with their biggest fear yet and face off to evil clown Pennywise, a menacing monster who’s murderous history dates back for centuries. 

American Assassin

Release date: 15th September

Based on the New York best seller, American Assassin follows CIA recruit Mitch Rapp’s (Dylan O’Brien) counterterrorism mission. Whilst deployed to investigate a wave of terror attacks Rapp’s frequent encounters with an unknown Turkish agent force the team into unlikely alliances, but with a mysterious operative threatening war in the Middle East everything must be done to stop him, including dis-obeying orders.

Victoria and Abdul

Release date: 15th September 

Judi Dench stars as Queen Victoria in this extraordinary true story of unlikely alliances. When young Indian clerk joins the Queen Victoria to participate in the Golden Jubilee the two form an unlikely friendship. As their loyalty grows stronger, Queen Victoria’s household and companions cast a disapproving eye on the friendship and put all their efforts into destroying it.

Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer star in this psychological thriller about love, devotion and sacrifice. When uninvited house guests descend on a couple’s tranquil life their relationship is tested beyond belief.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Release date: 20th September

We all learnt what it takes to be a Kingsman in Kingsman: The Secret Service, but this year Eggsy returns to save the world facing a new set of challenges. With their headquarters demolished and the world held hostage, the Kingsmen discover US spy organisation, Statesmen. In their battle to protect humanity the two teams have no choice but to bound together and defeat the common enemy.
